A Federação Sindical Mundial (FSM), tendo presente o actual contexto político, económico, social e laboral à escala europeia e planetária, convocou para hoje, 3 de Outubro, uma Jornada Internacional de Acção, em defesa, nomeadamente: dos direitos laborais e sociais conquistados; da negociação colectiva e dos direitos e liberdades sindicais; de melhores salários e das 35 horas de trabalho semanal; da segurança social pública.

A Federação Sindical Mundial (FSM), tendo presente o actual contexto político, económico, social e laboral à escala europeia e planetária, convocou para hoje, 3 de Outubro, uma Jornada Internacional de Acção, em defesa, nomeadamente: dos direitos laborais e sociais conquistados; da negociação colectiva e dos direitos e liberdades sindicais; de melhores salários e das 35 horas de trabalho semanal; da segurança social pública. A CGTP-IN, interpretando e identificando-se com tais objectivos à luz da realidade portuguesa e dando concretização aos seus princípios de solidariedade internacionalista e de classe, associa-se a esta importante e oportuna jornada de âmbito mundial. Em Portugal, as políticas governamentais, com o apoio do Presidente da República - agora a coberto do programa de esbulho e agressão do FMI/UE/BCE - aprofundam a satisfação dos interesses dos grandes grupos económicos e financeiros e das grandes potências, numa escalada crescente e sem limites, que ataca progressos e conquistas civilizacionais e pilares fundamentais da democracia alcançada com o 25 de Abril de 1974. Enquanto o grande capital continua a acumular lucros escandalosos e se acelera o regabofe das privatizações de sectores fundamentais da economia, hipotecando o presente e o futuro, cresce o empobrecimento generalizado da população, provocado por aumentos insustentáveis de impostos e de preços de bens essenciais, cortes nos salários e pensões, na protecção social e na saúde, nos serviços públicos e nas funções sociais do Estado, pelo desemprego e pela precariedade. Insaciáveis, procuram, agora, golpear brutalmente a legislação do trabalho, com vista, nomeadamente, à liberalização dos despedimentos em violação das garantias constitucionais, à prestação de trabalho não pago, à destruição da contratação colectiva e dos direitos consagrados, intensificando a exploração de quem trabalha e o ataque aos sindicatos com orientação de classe e impondo o retrocesso económico e social. No nosso país, como na Grécia, na Irlanda ou em qualquer canto ou do mundo, é preciso dizer NÃO! a políticas e programas que, agora, em nome da chamada “crise da dívida soberana”, só servem os interesses dos mesmos de sempre e alimentam o sistema dominante. É preciso lutar por reais alternativas e de futuro. É com esse sentido que, também em Portugal, cresce o protesto e a luta determinada dos trabalhadores e de outras camadas da população. Protesto e luta de que as grandiosas manifestações convocadas pela CGTP-IN para o passado sábado (dia do seu 41º aniversário) dão extraordinário testemunho e que prosseguirá, já de 20 a 27 de Outubro, com uma forte dinâmica reivindicativa, com greves e paralisações nos sectores público e privado e que se intensificará e alargará, tornando-se cada vez mais geral. Nesta ocasião, saudando a Jornada Internacional de Acção, a CGTP-IN felicita, ainda, a Federação Sindical Mundial que, nesta data, celebra o 66.º aniversário da sua fundação e de intervenção e luta em prol dos trabalhadores e trabalhadoras de todo o mundo. The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), considering the current political, economic, social and labour context at the European and global scale, is promoting today, 3 October, an International Action Day, namely in defense: of attained social and labour rights, of collective bargaining, trade union rights and freedoms, better wages, the 35-hour working week and of public social security. The CGTP-IN, interpreting and identifying itself with those objectives, in the light of the Portuguese reality and implementing its internationalist solidarity and class principles, joins this important and timely international day. In Portugal, the government policies, with the support of the Republic’s President – now with the coverage of the IMF/EU/ECB plunder and aggression programme – are increasingly meeting the interests of big economic and financial groups, and of the bigger countries, in a growing and boundless escalation, which is undermining civilizational achievements and gains as well as the basic pillars of democracy achieved with the 25 April 1974. While big capital continues to accumulate outrageous profits, and the feast of privatizations of crucial economic sectors accelerates, undermining both present and future, the population gets increasingly poorer, as a result of unbearable increases in taxes and essential commodities, salary and pension cuts, as well as cuts in social welfare and healthcare, in the public services and in the state social duties, together with unemployment and precariousness. Insatiable as they are, they are now trying to deliver violent blows against the labour laws, namely by trying to achieve freer dismissals- violating the Constitution- to have unpaid work, to destroy collective bargaining and the rights attained, thus intensifying workers exploitation, attacking the class-oriented trade unions and imposing economic and social regression. In our country, as in Greece, Ireland or in any other corner of the world, we have to say NO! to the policies and programmes which, now in the name of the so-called “crisis of sovereign debt”, only serve the interests of the same of all times, and are feeding the ruling system. We must fight for real alternatives, with a future. It is with this same sense that in Portugal grows the determined protest and struggle of the workers and other popular strata. Extraordinary testimonies of that protest and struggle were the enormous demonstrations convened by the CGTP-IN last Saturday (date of our 41st. Anniversary) to be continued, already from 20 to 27 October, strongly advancing our claims, with strikes and stoppages in both the public and the private sector, and that will subsequently be intensified and enlarged, making it a more general struggle. On this occasion, saluting the International Action Day, the CGTP-IN congratulates the World Federation of Trade Unions which is, on this date, commemorating the 66th Anniversary of its foundation and of intervention and struggle on behalf of men and women workers in the whole world.
